Badrinath Ji

Badrinath is one of the most sacred destinations of Chardham. It is the source of divinity for devotees. Badrinath occupies a place in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand in northern India. The Badrinath shrine is the most revered pilgrimage destination for the pilgrims in all over the India. The remaining three Chardham destinations include Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath, known for their sanctity. The Himalayan city is situated on the bank of Alaknanda River.

This city stands at an elevation of 3,133 above the sea level. The holy Badrinath shrine is dedicated to the Lord Vishnu. The main part of the temple was demolished several time due to heavy rolls down. Scindia and Holkar were the ones who restored the shrine in 19th century. The Badrinath shrine encompasses 15 idols. The temple is beautifully maintained with black stone.

Yogdhyan Badri has huge importance among the Panch Badries. In Hindu mythology it is noticed that after defeating the Kayravas Pandavas gave the control of Hastinapur to Raja Parikshit. Yogdhyan is at the height of 1,920 m in Pandukeshwar. The word Pandukeshwar came from "Pandu" also known as the meditated place.

Bhawishya Badri
Bhawishya Badri is very popular for the lion-headed idol of Narsingh. Placed at an altitude of 2,744 m. Joshimath is the key entrance to arrive this Badri. The pilgrims also go through Tapovan, the hot water spring very famous among the followers.

Bridha Badri
Bridha Badri is refers old Badri which is also known as Vridha Badhri. It is 7 km away from Joshimath. The idol of Badrinath was worshiped for years before Shankaracharya. This is also known as Vridha Badhri.

Adi Badri
This Badri is perched 17 km away from Karanprayag. At this site you will explore the sixteen groups of Gupta-period shrines. Hindus believe that these shrines were constituted by Adi Guru Shankaracharya
