Kedarnath JiKedarnath is the most inaccessible among the four
chardham pilgrimage destinations. It takes almost 2 days to complete the
journey from Gangotri. Kedarnath shrine is held in extreme regard for
being counted among the twelve jyotirlingas of Hindu god Lord Shiva. The
Kedarnath shrine is located at an elevation of 3,584 m above the sea
level. Surroundings of the Kedarnath look so attractive surrounded by
beautiful mountain ranges of the Himalayas.

town. Mandakini River originates from near the Kedarnath Temple in
Uttarakhand. It is close to the Indo-Chinese border. Between the months

believed that after the great battle of Mahabharata Pandavas were
looking for Lord Shiva. The Pandavas wanted self-abasement. Bhim seeing
Shiva in the form of a bull followed him but all he could get hold of
was his tail. Shiva came out into view with the rest parts of the body
at the four Kedars.
Kedarnath Kedarnath is the first of all Kedars. Among the five Pandavas, Bhim was the most powerful. He took hold of the tail of Shiva. This is known as Nandi in Hindu mythos. Madhyamaheshwar This is the place where the Navel of Lord Shiva did appear. Madhyamaheshwari is one the Kedar of all four Kedars in Uttarakhand. It is 30 km away from Guptkashi. You can reach there by vehicles only 6 km and the rest 24 km by Trekking. It is 3,490 high above sea level. Tunganath This is the Tunganath location. The legends states that the lord Shiva's arms did appear at Tunganath after he divided his body. It is at the height of 3,680 m above sea level. Rudranath At the Rudranath Kedar the Shiva's face regressed. And the pilgrims started to worship it. Rudranath is 23 km away from Gopeshwar. Pilgrims need vehicles and trekking to cover the distance. This shrine is at a height of 2, 286 m above sea level. Kalpeshwar The word Kalpeshwar is taken from "Kalpviriksh" a tree. Sage Durvasa used it as a place of meditation.
