Panch Prayag
Panch Prayag includes the five most sacred river
flows through the Garhwal Himalayans. All the Prayag is highly revered
by the Hindus. It has immense religious respect in the heart of the
pilgrims. The holy names of the five Prayags are Nanda Prayag, Karana
Prayag, Rudra Prayag, Vishnu Prayag and Dev Prayag. In India these
rivers are exalted as goddess. In the Garhwal Himalayan, the Ganga and
Yamuna meet together. Hence this site is more accessible and mighty
destination for pilgrimage. In Hindu mythos the meaning of Prayag means
the confluence of two or more than two rivers. Pilgrims take a holy bath
into the sacred river before start their worship. The sacred river Ganga
alters herself to maintain its force, split into 12 routes. And they
unite again in a single unit after Devprayag. Devprayag is the meeting
point of two big streams of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi.
Dev Prayag
Dev Prayag is one of the Prayags having immense
importance in the state of Uttarakhand. Dev Prayag is the point where
river Alaknanda and Bhagirathi are meeting together. It is also very
famous for sacred shrines and holy Ghats. It is just 70 kilo meter away
from Rishikesh, one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in
Uttarakhand state. It is also conceived that the both Raja Dashratha and
his son Rama performed self-mortification at Dev Prayag. The act of
congregation is the most celebrating part at Dev Prayag. Dussherra,
Basant Panchami and Ramnavmi fairs are organized here.
Karna Prayag

Rudra Prayag
Rudra Prayaga is the meeting point of Alaknanda
and Mandakini rivers. The place derives its name from Lord Shiva, also
known as Rudra. Hindus believe that the sage Narad worshipped Lord Shiva
here to be blessed with the mastery of music mysteries. Rudra Prayag
also commemorates the event when Sati, consort of Lord Shiva, took
rebirth after her self immolation. The shrine of Kedarnath is at 84 km
from Rudra Prayag while Badrinath shrine is at 159 km from here.
Vishnu Prayag
Vishnu Prayag is located at an altitude of 1,372 m
above sea level, Vishnu Prayag is the confluence of rivers Vishnu Ganga
and Dhauli Ganga. After Vishnu Ganga leaves Vishnu Prayag and advances
its course, it is known as river Alaknanda. Kagbhusandi Lake and Vishnu
Kund are major attractions for tourists tourists arriving at Vishnu
Prayag in Uttarakhand.
Nand Prayag
The confluences of the Alaknanda and Nandakini
rivers forms Nand Prayag at 914 mts. Trekkers are often seen here on
their way to Tapovan across Kunwari pass, or on their way to Roopkund.
This beautiful spot is a major tourist point. It is said that the
confluence is named for the pious Raja Nanda who had performed a huge
fire purification ceremony here. According to one legend, the king had
been granted to Devaki, the imprisoned sister of the tyrant king Kansa.
Ultimately, the gods found an ingenuous if wily solution: Vishnu would
be born as Krishna to Devaki but would be brought up by Nanda's wife,
yashoda.
