Uttarakhand region, Rajaji National Park covers an area of 820.42 sq km
in the foothills of the Himalayas. The famous national park derives its
name from the first Indian governor general of India, Rajagopalachari.
The national park came into being in the year 1983
after combining three wildlife sanctuaries - Rajaji, Motichur and
Chilla. Today, the park has the eminence of sheltering the largest
density of wild elephants in the entire Uttarakhand region.

is located in Dehradun, which is well connected by rail and road with
all the important destinations in Uttarakhand. The Chilla Gate of the
park is 9 km away from Haridwar while the Kunao Gate is at a distance of
6 km from Rsihikesh.
