Yamunotri Ji

Yamunotri is one of the most traveled pilgrimage destinations in northern India. It is an important part of the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. Located in the nature-rich state of Uttarakhand, Yamunotri attracts thousands of pilgrims and travellers from far and wide. It has immense respect in the heart of devotees. Hanuman Chatti is a little town in the valley of Garhwal Himalayas.

This shrine is dedicated to the goddess Yamuna. The temple is located at an elevation of 3,235 mts high above the sea level. The Yamunotri Temple is a highly significant mythological site for the pilgrimage in Uttarakhand.

The Indo-Chinese border is quite close to the Yamunotri shrine. There are three natural and attractive hot water springs at the foot of the Yamunotri Temple. It is the main origin of the Yamuna River. Yamunotri is well connected to places like Rishikesh, Dehradun and Haridwar. You can reach Yamunotri from all these places. The distance between Hanuman Chatti and yamunotri can be completed by riding a pony. It is advisable for the pilgrims to travel Yamunotri between the months of May and October. According to the Hindu mythology it is the most sacred site. It is believed that it was the residence of Asit Muni, the ancient sage. The pilgrims use the hot springs water in cooking while residing at the temple.

Yamunotri is also known for exciting trekking options. Not only this, the pilgrims also visit here for trekking from all across the country. It is very exciting and enjoyable for pilgrims and for tourists as well. Devotees can also reach the shrine by trekking for a few kilometres. The picturesque sight, peaks of mountains and the surrounding greenery gather its beauty in a frame.

The Yamunotri shrine is located in a beautiful Himalayan valley. The temple stands in the foothills of Kalinda Parvata near the three hot water springs. The temple was set up by the Mharani Gaularia of Jaipur in the 19th century.
